Doing business in Norway: Contracts

Contracting is crucial to any successful business, and Scandinavian contract law, although firmly based on principles of freedom to contract and that contracts shall be kept, does have some peculiarities both compared to common and civil law systems.

The purpose of this seminar is to give a practical overview of some “do’s and don’ts” when entering into and executing contract in Norway. Some key elements will be the following:

  • How and by whom contracts are entered into
  • Which questions the contract should seek to answer
  • How contract provisions are interpreted
  • How contracts should be handled
  • How contracts can be varied, amended, supplemented, etc.
  • What to do if contracts are not carried out as agreed
  • How contractual disputes are settled

Our key note speakers are Reidar Smedsvig and Jens Baumann Melberg from Arntzen De Besche Law Company.

For more information, please contact Inger Tone Ødegård.
