Cross-country skiing for beginners

Destination: FRIKVARTERET Location: Ådneram, address: Sirdalsveien 8853. Frikvarteret is kindly allowing us to use their restroom facilities, changing rooms and the common area, where we can have lunch if the weather is on the cold side.

Skiing equipment (very important): We rent skies, boots and ski poles at Ådneram, NOK 150.- pr person. To make sure we are able to prepare the right size in equipment for everyone, please comment on your enrollment with the correct information on your height and shoe size.

Shoes: size 39 (book one size larger than your normal size, you will need thick wool socks). 

FRIKVARTERET is a rescue center and belongs to the Boy Scouts, they kindly assist us with all the skiing equipment we'll need. Payment by VIPPS or cash.

Target group: This event is specifically for newcomers who would like to try cross-country skiing for the first time! We'll have two instructors for the day with capacity at max 25 people (adults only). For families with children we might suggest to participate with one adult to soak up the tips and tricks, for you to teach your family later on. The classes are held early every season for you to have plenty of time to practice your new hobby until spring comes. Who knows, maybe you'll become an expert! 

Transportation: By your own car (about a 2,5 hours drive) or public transport (Skibussen). Boreal, will start operating the seasonal ski bus from the end of December to Sirdalen every weekend (your bus stop is Ådneram). Click here for more information on the schedule (round trip - NOK 499). Please await booking your bus ticket until we know more about the weather conditions. We will forward a note to all two days prior to the event.

How to dress: This is a full day outdoor event. We will forward all participants a checklist of what to bring so you know exactly what to wear and what not to wear. This is not a fashion show, and you don't need fancy gear either. We recommend buying second hand at either Fretex or Finn if there is something that you don't already have. You'll need several thin layers to stay dry and warm all the way from head to toe.
