New roads, bus lanes, pedestrian and cycle paths were all going to secure employment for hundreds of workers in the construction industry. Now it´s about to come to a full stop. A major industry is facing an unexpected crisis at the start of a new year.

Changes in policy, as well as a reorganisation within the Norwegian Road authority have contributed to this difficult situation. As of the 1st of January 2020, the Road authority will be responsible for maintaining, building and improving the state highways. County roads will the responsibility of the county owning them.

The information at the time of Rosenkilden going to print was that the county had 80 of the 200 employees needed to carry out work on the county roads. A significant number of employees in the road authority have also resigned.
