Opportunities Rogaland – a mentor program
The Stavanger-region has citizens from as much as 180 countries, representing in total 20% of our workforce. Many have been living and working in the region for years. Unfortunately, we don´t see the same representation of diversity when it comes to politics, board members, management, and organizations – this needs to change!
In cooperation with Rogaland Fylkeskommune, Stavanger Kommune and Stavanger Chamber of Commerce we have taken initiative to start a new program to increase our regions diversity. opportunities Rogaland is a mentoring and development program, which is aimed towards ambitious talents with multicultural backgrounds and higher-level education.
The program is an initiative to promote multicultural role models in the private sector, public sector and voluntary organizations in Rogaland. We want to promote role models and strengthen career opportunities to ensure our region's position as international and inclusive.
Looking for candidates
The candidates we are looking for have a desire to take key positions in both business and society and can commit to attend monthly gatherings. We will elect 20 role models, representing different countries, professions, age, and gender. We hope to receive as many applications as this will give us an idea for future need towards developing the program in the right direction.
We are looking for participants according to the following criteria:
- Multicultural background.
- Education at higher level or vocational certificate.
- Norwegian level minimum B2.
The program will be held in Norwegian. If you are interested, but not yet able to follow a program in Norwegian, we will invite you to an evening in English to discuss cultural awareness and opportunities in the near future.
Starting this fall
The program starts in November 2022 and ends in November 2023 – containing monthly academic sessions in addition to regular mentor discussions. The mentors are recruited from leading positions in both private and public sectors. The program is free of charge, and the gatherings will mainly take place outside working hours.
